Loagan Bunut National Park, Sarawak's largest natural lake. The lake covers 650 hectares of Loagan Bunut National Park total acreage of 10,736 hectares. It is largely peat swamp forest wetland with small area of hill dipterocarp forest along the south. Loagan Bunut is a unique lake, especially with its seasonally fluctuating water level. This creates a rich habitat for wildlife, especially birds and aquatic life, making the Park birdwatcher's paradise.

Day 01 : Miri Resort City/Loagan Bunut National Park

Pick up from hotel at 0830hrs and depart miri by land to Loagan Bunut National Park. You will pass by the Sarawak Palm Oil Plantation before passing through the main junction heading to Bukil Peninjau and to Lapok. Here, you can catch a glimpe of the everyday activity of the local occupants of Bakong. Arrive in Bakong town after 1 1/2 hrs drives from miri. Enjoy a light refreshment at Bakong Town. Explore Bakong Vegetables market,(the journey to Lapok will take approximately about 1 hr.) As you turn into Beluru Junction you will see several Iban Longhouse nearby. As you travel further, you will view scenic hillside, lush green forests and unlimited acres of Palm Oil Plantations. Upon arrival at Lapok, stop for a while to look around the tiny "cowboy Town". After a short break at Lapok, proceed to the Park Head Quarters for 15 minutes. Check in at the Hostel. After lunch at the cafeteria, go for a short trek along the nature trail to learn more about flora and fauna. Take an afternoon lake cruise to witness rare bird life in the park. Late in the evening return to the park HQ for dinner. (lunch/dinner)

Day 02 : Loagan Bunut/Miri Resort City

Depart for a morning boat cruise along Bunut River to spot monkey, hornbills, monitor lizards and other wildlife. If you have a chance to see traditional methods of fishing by the Berawen tribe know as "Selambau" when is season. Return to the lodge for breakfast. return vback to Miri. ( Breakfast)

Note : Water levels at the Loagan Bunut lake fluctuates according to the dry and wet seasons. The lake is completely dry during the dry season, normally in July and August. During the dry season, lake cruises are not available.

Items to bring : insect repellent, sunhat, binoculars and your bird book if any, torch light, raincoat/umbrella in case of rain, slippers, personal toiletries, water bottle and personal items.
